Builder jailed for 27 years of tax evasion
Harry Rowbottom was found to owe £65,000 in Income Tax and National Insurance.
Harry Rowbottom, of Barton-upon Humber, was sentenced after being found to owe £65,000 in tax across that period, itv.com reports.
He has been ordered to pay back the tax in full, along with interest, over the next six months. Failure to do so will land him an extra two years and three months in prison.
The news provider reports that Mr Rowbottom was arrested at his home on October 1st after being found to have evaded both Income Tax and National Insurance.
Indeed, the builder had worked across North Lincolnshire and Humberside after setting up a firm in 1983, but failed to declare his earnings to HMRC.
The case, again, highlights the importance of good tax practice for individuals and small businesses.
