Half of SME owners regularly take work home

Almost half (48 per cent) of small business owners have admitted to regularly taking work home with them, with the need to dedicate much of the day and night to grow their companies.
 
According to a recent study by Sage, an increasing number of start-ups and entrepreneurs are forced to encroach on their evenings and weekends in order to keep up with workload and accounting duties.
 
Two-fifths (39 per cent) of SME owners surveyed admitted to taking work on family holidays while a further 43 per cent have spent at least a full weekend this summer catching up on work.
 
Almost two-thirds of entrepreneurs also admitted to feeling worried or stressed about work once they’d left the office and returned home. Finding the time to think clearly and strategically is an important factor behind business success and growth, according to Paul Cairney of Sage UK & Ireland.
