HMRC launches new tax return ad campaign
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has launched a new advertising campaign designed to encourage people to send in their 2011-12 tax return. It is urging people to find their "inner peace" and submit their return online well ahead of the January 31st deadline and pay the tax that they owe at the same time.
The department is trying to tap into the emotional relief that people feel when they are up to date with sending in their tax details, with the adverts featuring people enjoying life after a tax return is submitted.
HMRC's campaign features radio, newspaper and poster adverts, while new digital advertising will also be used in an attempt to reach more people than ever before.
Indeed, around 10.6 million people will be asked to submit a Self Assessment tax return for the 2011-12 financial year, with penalties in place for those who miss the January 31st deadline next year.
