The UK’s most successful small business campaign, Small Business Saturday, has been launched for a third successive year in London.

Anna Soubry, Minister of Small Business, spoke at the launch of Small Business Saturday 2015 in London with the message to the rest of the country: “Get involved”.

In 2014, approximately 16.5 million adults supported at least one small business on Small Business Saturday, with almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of the British people aware of the campaign.

This year’s campaign theme, “5 million small businesses, one big day”, was unveiled by Soubry, who urged the country to come together as “one nation” and support, inspire and promote small business.

“Now in its third year, this campaign is a fantastic way to celebrate the diversity of our small firms, from high-tech manufacturers and graphic designers, to child-minders, shops and local restaurants,” said Soubry.

“The Government will continue to back them and I want to see as many people as possible get out on Small Business Saturday and show their support.”

Details will soon be released for this year’s Small Business Saturday UK Bus Tour, which will run throughout November, calling at 27 towns and cities in all four corners of the UK.

Michelle Ovens, National Campaign Director, said: “Although the campaign focuses on one day, the goal is to have a lasting impact on small businesses by changing mind-sets, so that people make it their mission to support small businesses all year round.

“Most people in this country own a small business, work for a small business or know somebody who does, so supporting a small business on Small Business Saturday is absolutely personal.”
