Small Business Advice Week enters its 14th year this week
The UK's Small Business Advice Week is back for its 14th year, offering small business owners and entrepreneurs insight and inspiration to maximise growth and productivity among the nation's 4.5 million small and medium-sized businesses.
The UK’s Small Business Advice Week is back for its 14th year, offering small business owners and entrepreneurs insight and inspiration to maximise growth and productivity among the nation’s 4.5 million small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).
Featuring advice from leading experts and businesses, the growth and productivity theme for this year’s week will touch upon how businesses can maintain an upward curve amid the uncertainty of the EU referendum outcome and how best to optimise their day-to-day operations.
With 99% of all British businesses classified as small or medium-sized, Small Business Advice Week is designed to champion the backbone of the UK economy and breathe life into innovative businesses.
The event’s organisers said of the coming week: “[Small Business Advice Week is] here to help the UK’s 4.5 million SMEs with a record number of partners on board to provide insight and guidance for the times ahead.”
Mark Carney, Governor, Bank of England, said of the UK’s forward-thinking small firms in a recent speech: “While the most productive companies have continued to innovate, others have become slower at adopting those innovations.
“Speeding up the rate of take-up of new inventions and processes… would provide a significant boost to overall productivity growth.”
Aside from considerable support from leading bodies in the business industry, such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales (ICAEW), the week is well-supported by Parliament, with former Prime Minister, David Cameron a big champion of the event, which began with a discussion seminar last Thursday at the ICAEW’s headquarters.
Philippa Kelly, Manager of Financial Services, ICAEW, said: “This year, we have partnered with Small Business Advice Week to provide support and assurance to SMEs across the UK.
“We will be providing insight and advice into all things accountancy, showing you don’t need a team of in-house accountants to maximise the financial efficiency of your business.”
