Late P11D(b)
I have only put my P11D(b) and P11Ds in the post to HMRC today, so obviously they will arrive late. What penalties can I now face?
Copy P11Ds and the original P11D(b) must be delivered to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) by 6 July. Copy P11Ds must also be passed to the relevant employees by this date.
Any Class 1A National Insurance is due by 19 July (or 22 July if paying electronically)- so there is still time for you to settle this ahead of the deadline.
Late filing penalties for P11D(b)s are £100 per 50 employees for each month or part month you delay in filing your P11D(b).
So if you manage to file the return by the 5 August and assuming you have less than 50 employees, your penalty should only be £100. As you return is late, it is likely HMRC will write to you and state that the return must be submitted by 6 August to avoid further penalties. They should also write to confirm the amount of penalty due and how you can pay it.
If you are struggling to manage the preparation of your P11Ds and P11D(b), your local TaxAssist Accountant would be happy to assist you with this.
