Tax Payments Due in January 2010
I submitted my tax return in October and recently received a statement from my tax office showing tax due by 31st January 2010. Is there anyway I can defer this, as I can’t afford to make the payment?
In 2009 the Chancellor announced an extension to the Business Payment Support Service for businesses affected by the current economic conditions.
The service was made available to help businesses who have payments of tax due now or becoming due in the near future. The support team can be contacted by telephone and will usually give a quick decision on the options available to you, including arranging to make payment of your forthcoming tax liability over a longer period of time.
You should contact the HMRC Business Payment Support Service on 0845 302 1435 as soon as possible, as they urge you to get in touch with them in advance of the payment date, as they will be unable to help once the payment deadline of 31st January 2010 has passed.
