FSB unveils new National Chairman

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has confirmed it has elected John Allan as the organisation’s new National Chairman.

FSB members chose to elect Mr Allan for the position at the organisation’s annual Conference, in Leicester, replacing John Walker, who served as National Chairman for the last three years.

Allan is a former FSB recruiter who has been a grassroots activity for 15 years. He is currently a director of the British East India Company Ltd involved in oil expediting, steel making and whisky bottling.

He spoke of his joy at securing the role to guide the organisation through the nation’s economic recovery.

"Small businesses are the country’s innovators and key employers that are more likely to take on the long-term unemployed," said Allan.

"I am delighted to have been voted the FSB’s new National Chairman to continue the work of the organisation as the country heads into recovery.

"The FSB has an important voice in promoting small business issues and holding the Government to account in the policies they produce."

Allan’s previous roles include being Chairman and Chief Executive of the Wirral Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Merseyside Chamber and its representative on the organisation’s National Council.

Allan recently entered his fourth term as Chairman of Merseyside, West Cheshire and Wigan and has also served as National Vice Chairman for the past 12 months.
