Questions and Answers
Why can’t I make an SEISS claim?
We are concerned that large sections of the business community have been overlooked and will not receive government support to deal with Coronavirus.
TaxAssist Accountants wrote to the Chancellor on 2nd April 2020 outlining our concerns and we continue to push for the SEISS scheme to be made more fair.
However, based on the current rules, the following individuals are unable to make an SEISS grant claim:
- Where you started self-employment since 5 April 2019
- Where your average trading profit was more than £50,000
- Where you have incorporated your trade since 5 April 2019.
- Where your only income is from rental properties or furnished holiday lets
- Where your income from other sources is more than 50% of your trading income.
- Where you didn’t file your 2018/19 tax return by 23rd April 2020.
