More than £6bn in coronavirus support grants still available to businesses in England
The Government has confirmed that more than £6 billion in grant funding is still available to help businesses in England during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Government has confirmed that more than £6 billion in grant funding is still available to help businesses in England during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Of the £12.3 billion allocated to local authorities in England to help businesses, just 50% has been claimed so far. This means that more than £6 billion can be applied for by firms needing up to £25,000 to support their finances during the coronavirus lockdown
The Small Business Grants Fund, announced in Budget 2020, is a £10,000 grant for businesses which on 11th March were eligible for Small Business Rate Relief, including those with a rateable value of between £12,000 and £15,000, or Rural rate Relief.
The Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Business Grants Fund was announced on 17th March for businesses eligible on 11th March for a discount under the Expanded Retail Discount Scheme and with a rateable value of less than £51,000. The grant is £10,000 for businesses with a rateable value up to and including £15,000, and £25,000 where the rateable value is between £15,000 and £51,000.
Grants are also available in respect of each property, so some businesses with more than one outlet may be able to claim more than one grant.
