The Government is seeking views on what the British public would like to see in the Budget which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 8 July 2015.

As part of the policy-making process, HM Treasury will be considering a host of original and innovative ideas from the general public, who submit their representation by filling in a short survey.

Any submission must be submitted to HM Treasury by Friday 5 June 2015 in order to allow for full consideration in advance of the Conservative Party’s first full Budget.

For those who would prefer to submit their representation as a file attachment, HM Treasury has asked for emails to be sent to: [email protected]

Chancellor, George Osborne provided a glimpse of what to expect at the upcoming Budget when he gave a speech to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) last week.

Productivity was a key focus, with Mr Osborne announcing a major push on boosting output to complement the work already carried out on rebalancing growth and the creation of a Northern Powerhouse.

“Now a lot has been written about the productivity puzzle. Why, for so many years, have British workers been less productive than their German or American counterparts? Why has productivity been so damaged by the Great Recession?” said Osborne.

“Let me be clear: improving the productivity of our country is the route to raising standards of living for everyone in this country.

“So by the Budget I will publish our Productivity Plan, our plan to make Britain work better. Our future prosperity depends on it.

“It is now within our grasp to make Britain the most prosperous country in the world, and the best place to do business.

“It would be very easy at the beginning of a second term to take our foot off the pedal. That’s not what we’re going to do.”
