National Client Satisfaction Survey

Accountants are first choice for business advice say nearly 75% of independent business owners

Almost three-quarters of self-employed professionals and owners of small firms turn to their accountant for business advice, according to a new National Client Survey conducted by TaxAssist Accountants.

Of the 3,638 clients who completed the survey during August and into the start of September, 72.7 per cent (2,784) stated that when it came to business advice, they spoke to their accountant. According to the survey, accountants have taken over from bank managers (6.9 per cent) and solicitors (9.2 per cent) as trusted advisers for business related matters.

Where do you seek business advice from?

This was also highlighted by the support TaxAssist Accountants provided its clients during COVID-19 pandemic, with almost 90 per cent rating it either ‘excellent’ or ‘great’ during these challenging times.

Throughout the lockdown, TaxAssist produced regular email newsletters and bulletins to keep its clients informed about any new Government announcements and support measures, which was deemed the most helpful resource among the survey respondents.

Clients also praised still being able to easily contact their accountants for help and guidance about how to access Government support and funding during the lockdown whether it was using video meetings and calls.

However, as restrictions were easing when clients were invited to take the survey, almost 80 per cent said their preferred way of meeting their accountant was in person, which has been a key factor in TaxAssist Accountants playing an important part of their role as advisors.

What is your preferred way to meet?

The National Client Survey also discovered that an overwhelming 95.2 per cent of our clients gave an overall rating of 8, 9 or 10 out of 10 for the service they received from their TaxAssist Accountant, with 96.2 per cent saying they would recommend their services to a friend.

How would you rate the overall service you receive from TaxAssist Accountants?

James Mattam, Group Business Development Director at TaxAssist Accountants, said: “Having delivered extensive support to clients throughout the coronavirus pandemic, we wanted to understand if we had made a difference during these challenging times and to find out what other services and support our clients would need to help them going forward.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who took the time out of their busy lives to provide us with this feedback.

We’re delighted with the response and the secret to our good service stems from our accountants being truly passionate about helping businesses thrive”.
